Workshop on Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreting

Come learn the tricks of the trade of interpreting, the dos and don’ts, and how to tackle

some of the trickiest obstacles in our profession (speed, accents, lack of materials,

unforeseen situations, complex terminology)!

 

This workshop is directed at interpreters wishing to improve their skills. We will deal

with advanced interpreting strategies and techniques through various consecutive and

simultaneous exercises, i.e. interpreting lengthy speeches coherently as if in a

professional setting, covering diverse subjects.

 

Consecutive: 4-10 minutes

Simultaneous: up to 30 minutes

 

We will interpret speeches on and from a number of organisations, with a particular

focus on the European Union and the United Nations.

 

We will cover topics such as international law, politics, human rights, European

integration, economics, and any other topics that may be current and of interest.

 

Whether you need to fine-tune your note-taking skills, improve your concentration or

memory, or build your stamina in the booth, you will benefit from this course.
